About me
Cataloging librarian at a university library, eleven years in, mostly working periodicals and cross-references now after starting in circulation.
I catalog periodicals for a living, which either explains everything about how I read or nothing at all, depending who you ask. I've worked in the same university library for eleven years now, first in circulation, now mostly buried in subject headings and cross references most patrons never see. That's probably why a book about foresters redrawing a forest into a legible grid did something to me that a lot of flashier books haven't. I read across genres without much discipline about it, hard sci-fi one week, a dense complexity-theory paperback the next, whatever's actually good. Board games are the other half of this. I keep three shelves of them, alphabetized by designer instead of title because that's how my brain actually organizes things, and yes I know how that sounds.
Where I am: Bloomington, Indiana
Still working through a stack of library discards from the weeding shelf, the ones nobody checked out in a decade. Most of them deserve better than that.
What's here
Book reviews, board game reviews, and personal essays. No schedule, no affiliate links, nothing sponsored. I write about a book or a game after I've actually finished it and have something to say, which is why the dates on here are irregular.
